Collaboration | Mae Nicole Candles

Time for another small shop spotlight. Shawntel of Mae Nicole Candles reached out to me for some product images for her candles and diffusers. She couldn’t remember where she saw my work but she knew that she wanted to reach out and see if we could team up.

I like to meet my clients face to face prior to getting to business if I can. The pandemic has made that different and challenging but with Shawntel, we made it work. We met at a nearby Starbucks and chatted about her hopes, dreams, and visions for her business. Physically meeting her and learning about her “why” helped me understand her priorities as a business owner and as a fellow Charlotte resident.

We talked about the story behind one of her classic scents called Love. 10% of the proceeds of every Love candle sold goes to The American Cancer Society in honor of her mother who lost her battle with Cancer. Even her business name is an homage to her family ties. Seeing Shawntel’s dedication to her business, her mom, and her passion is how I knew I needed to do everything I can to support her and her business.

If you would like to support Shawntel and Mae Nicole Candles you can shop her products here or you can visit her Etsy.

It has been a few months since we met that day and here we are with two collaborative photoshoots later and we are already dreaming about our next shoot together. Here are a few images from our previous collaborations.

I’m looking forward to many more collaborations and supporting another local small shop in my city. It brings me so much joy to connect in this way and it just hits different when they are my neighbors.
